1. Avoid contacting sharp and hard objects. When the FRP hull collides with the rocks, concrete structures and metal components on the shore, there will be scratches and other damages. Therefore, protective measures should be taken. For example, anti-collision and wear-resistant metal and rubber fenders are set at the bow, wharf and side of the ship which are often subject to friction, and wear-resistant rubber and plastic soft materials are laid on the deck.
2. If the fishing boat is found damaged, repair it in time. Check the hull often. If the resin falls off, the scratch is deep and the fiber is exposed, it is necessary to repair it in time, otherwise the damage will be accelerated because of the water entering.
3. FRP fishing boats should be put ashore when not in use, especially in cold winter. Because FRP has a certain water absorption, water can gradually enter into the interior along the small channel at the interface between glass fiber and resin, and the strength of FRP is gradually decreased. Especially in winter, the entering water freezes when it is cold, which makes the seepage passage expand and the harm is greater.
Therefore, when the boats are not in use in winter, they should leave the water and go ashore, so that the water entering will evaporate and the strength can be gradually restored. This will extend the life of the boat. After landing, the boat should be cleaned first, put it in the right place with padding, and put it indoors. If it is placed outdoors, use tarpaulin to hide it, and often ventilate it to avoid dampness.
